Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Immediately following my for-no-apparent-reason complete and utter meltdown yesterday afternoon B and I rode in the front seats of his car to the AMC Van Ness 14 to watch a series of still images create the illusion of moving pictures in a big and dark room full of cushioned seats and junk-food-eating strangers. The film that we watched in the aforementioned room was and still is called Me and Earl and the Dying Girl which won both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was then acquired by Fox Searchlight Pictures for twelve million dollars American. In an effort to not over-hype a thing that has already been sufficiently-hyped, I think maybe I will say that Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is quite probably the best high school movie that I've seen since Easy A, or maybe even Juno, actually. The acting is so super perfect and the writing is fresh and funny and it's got Connie Britton and Molly Shannon and Ron Swanson as part of its supporting cast and it was a really enjoyable and hearty movie-going experience and I've been thinking about it a lot ever since and maybe go and see it.

Also, I find it important to note that Runaway Bride starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere is among my favorite movies of all-time so please keep that in your mind before heeding my advice about which films to pay your real dollars to see.
