You Don't Know Anything, or Happy Mother's Day

I'm not a mom but I was still on the receiving end of some thoughtful effing text messages from my precious friends on this sunshiney Mother's Day.

I also walked past a garden of purple flowers while out with Patches this afternoon and came across the words below while reading Armistead Maupin's Babycakes on the couch with Buddy a few hours before that.

"You don't really know for certain about a family until somebody dies. You don't know anything until that happens."

Even though she's not here, she's here.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom.
