Flashback Friday

Earlier this week my mom wrote a blog post about how, when my siblings and I were little, she offered to pay each of us twenty dollars if we would let her give away Beau, our family dog (yeah, we took the money). At the top of her post she embedded the above gem of a photo in which the members of my immediate family and both sets of my grandparents are donning color-coordinated collared shirts. I can be found right smack dab in the middle of the picture looking like a cross between the Mad TV guy and Stuart Minkus from Boy Meets World, so really I shouldn't have been at all surprised when it took less than an hour for one of my friends to crop my head out of the photo and stick it on up Twitter.

While there are probably better pictures of me out there somewhere, it was really nice to see this old photo of my family and remember, for a moment, what life was like before Alzheimer's and breathing machines and cancer and feeding tubes and funeral homes and Hospice workers and Lou Gehrig's Disease.
